Galamsey Gold As A Source Of Financing NPP Campaign

Galamsey Gold As A Source Of Financing NPP Campaign

The episode that left thousands of galamseyers out of job; without any realistic plan for alternate jobs, started sometime in 2017.

Nana Addo with his usual reactionary tactics decided to get result by employing the services of Operation Vanguard Team to force compliance.

It did not last long when the Anas expose on galamsey involving government and several security officials, came public. Much much later, Charles Bissiw of the Flagstaff House was caught on video footage receiving money from a galamseyer. Instead of Special Prosecutor, the case was referred to the CID. Since then, the two cases have died natural death.

Meanwhile, Horace Ekow Ewusi who is an auctioneer by profession, and an NPP Vice Chairman, Central Region, had been contracted to transport the seized excavators to specified ort. The question is why was the transportation not done by the Police?

Soon after a request came from Prof Frimpong Boateng to release excavators for galamsey concessions to enable them finance the NPP's 2020 campaign.

As a result, many concessions were released to many NPP officials, including Wuntomi, the Ashanti Regional Chairmàn; John Buadu; Prof Frimpong Boateng; Kojo Opppng Nkrumah among others.

The truth is that out of 500 excavators, only 127 can be accounted for. According to Ekow Ewusi, they agreed to operate galamsey to finance the 2020 NPP party campaign.

If this is not corruption, then it must be more than corruption.
