Thiago bids farewell to Bayern Munich

Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara has bid farewell to Bayern Munich after seven years at the German club.

The 29-year-old won 17 trophies during his time with the Bavarian giants with the most recent being the 2019/20 Champions League.

On Friday, the midfielder took to his social media to announce his exit from Bayern Munich citing his decision was based on the need for a new challenge.

Head coach Hansi Flick had earlier confirmed the former Barcelona midfielder would be on the move this summer, lauding his professionalism.

“Thiago is an exceptional player who spent seven hugely successful years here. He’s a wonderful person and an outstanding professional. It was very emotional today when he said goodbye to us all.”

Liverpool looks like Thiago’s next home as the Merseyside club have agreed a €30m fee for the player.

Thiago would be Reds boss Jurgen Klopp’s second signing of the transfer window after left-back Kostas Tsimikas.
